This is a 4-week course in which we will complete the Dorothea Pinafore by Lise Tailor. This course is perfect for anyone who already feels comfortable using a sewing machine.

Over the course of 4 Wednesday evenings we will learn how to take measurements, work with a commercial pattern, make small adjustments and construct a garment. We will provide you with the pattern which you can take home and use again. You will have to source fabric as per the requirements for your size. At the end of this course you will walk home proud with a unique handmade addition to your wardrobe!

Max. 8 students per class.

PROJECT DETAILS:

The Dorothea wrap pinafore dress is an easy-to-wear piece full of style. With its A-line shape and crossover V-neckline, it’s designed to be layered for versatile looks throughout the seasons. You can choose between two fastening options: a button placket or a strap with D-rings. Finished with a facing, the inside is beautifully clean and polished.

Suitable fabrics for this project are woven structured fabrics, such as denim, corduroy lightweight wool, or gabardine.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR:

This class is aimed at confident beginners who know how to use a sewing machine and sew following the seam allowance. You’ve probably tackled a few sewing projects at home, but want to improve your dressmaking skills and start to understand dress making patterns.

COST INCLUDES:

  • The pattern, which you can take home and use again.
  • Tuition, tea, coffee.

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • Fabric as per the pattern requirements for your size
  • Basic Sewing Kit: Polyester thread, thread snips, fabric scissors, tailors chalk/pencil or water soluble fabric marker, sewing pins, seam ripper/un-picker
  • A working sewing machine. 
  • Optional: Please bring your own reusable cup if you can.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • If you need to cancel this course one month prior to start date a full refund will be given less third party payment provider fees, two weeks prior to the course a 50% refund will be given. After that time there is no refund given. Your place can be transferred to a friend but this is only for events that have not yet started. You cannot send someone in your place half way through a course.
  • We reserve the right to reschedule undersubscribed courses. We will try to give as much notice as possible for events that need to be rescheduled. In the unlikely situation that the event is cancelled you will receive as much notice as possible. We will try to make the event up in the future on the same day and time. 
  • Should Fabric Romance cancel a course or individual class and we are unable to reschedule, a full refund will be made within 10 business days, however, a refund will not be issued for any classes cancelled due to extreme weather conditions or any other event beyond our control.
