At Fabric Romance we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually looking to learn and improve our environmental performance as a fundamental part of how we run the shop. We encourage customers and suppliers to do the same.
We make it our ongoing priority to source earth-friendly fabrics that have been produced to certain standards such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™. We stock a growing range of sustainable fabrics made from natural or recycled fibres. Where possible we try to buy from European production (reduced footprint) and direct from the manufacturer/mill. You can find our range of eco-friendly fabrics here.
We constantly look into more sustainable alternatives to managing our waste. We currently recycle our cardboard boxes, fabric bolts and hard plastics through the Galway City Council Recyling Centre.
Any off-cuts and fabrics that can still be used but cannot be sold through the store are either donated to local schools and crèches for art projects or to public sewing rooms such as Sew Last Season, a Galway based initiative with focus on upcycling and refashioning.
Your orders are currently packaged in mail bags made from 100% recycled plastic which are also 100% biodegradable. In keeping with our commitment to choosing the most sustainable options possible, we will be switching to more eco-friendly and recyclable kraft paper mail bags. We will do this once we we have used up our current supply of recycled plastic mail bags.
